17+ Inspirational Links to Create the Perfect Logo
A few of you viewed my banner tutorial and asked me a question: how do I create a logo!? While there is probably not a sufficient tutorial in existence to show you how to make a logo (although this one is great), there are plenty of resources. Here I’ve compiled a good approach to getting started with logo design. Before you get started, please be warned:
(Great) Logo design is not easy or quick. Logos represent your company’s vision and attitude. There’s a reason they cost more than $5. Graphic Design Blog has a great post on why your logo should cost more than your lunch.
Choosing Your Name
Now if you don’t have a name for your company, the first part of branding is choosing one! Spoonfed Design has a great post on picking the right name for your business. Let’s dissect my personal brand: Deadly Clever.
What comes to mind when you think of the word “deadly?” Probably something negative. However, paired with the word “clever,” the combination is meant to give off a sense of skill and accuracy. Hence my new tagline, “design to die for.” I use the word “clever” essentially to fit my personality: creative, analytical, unusual.
The Logo Design Process
The logo design process is a similar one to the general design process. Jacob Cass of Just Creative Design has an awesome comprehensive post on his logo design process from concept to completion. You can also find various examples of specific logo design processes across design blogs. Here are a few to give you some ideas:
