3 Things I Love About Elegant Themes

One of the functions of Diligent Design should be to showcase some great designs for those of you maybe not so adept at designing your own themes. To kick off this trend, I want to start with an awesome theme club I think you’ll enjoy.

So I totally have to rep Elegant Themes since they’ve just done another theme update and this time the designers have seriously gone an extra mile. I’d like to share a few reasons why you should check out them out.

The Design

Beautifully designed website templates for your usage.

Elegant doesn’t even begin to describe these themes. These designs are straight up beautiful with great texture, color schemes, and graphic accents. If you don’t like the look of the design in the gallery, every theme has an alternative color scheme including green, blue, black, red, brown, and purple. (colors vary with theme.)

Every theme seamlessly integrates featured posts and advertisements. They’re built to elegantly display anything you want to put on your blog. While I’m not a giant fan of the super-light-gray text that the themes boast, it’s easy to change this in the CSS. Other than this hang-up, the themes are stunning.

The Functionality

Looks aside, these themes have an amazing range of functionality. Anything you want a wordpress theme to do, one of these themes will do for you. I’ve actually modeled the way Blog by Design handles videos after the TV theme (true story!). Even if you’re already a designer, aspiring developers can benefit from these themes. The functions found in these themes include:

Each theme comes with different layout options and you can enable and disable features at will. The themes may be a little complex for a newbie, however, if you like having complete control over your site, these themes are incredible.

You can get every theme, past, present, and future, for only $20 a year. That gives you access to tons of great themes for the same price as a really good steak! Considering the sheer amount of files you get access to (.psds, alternative stylesheets, plug-ins) this is a ridiculous value. As someone who’d never considered paid themes before this club, the price and the value make me totally endorse premium themes.
