First of the Month: March, Minus the Pie

The Minus the Pie network has officially been launched with three great “pillar” blogs which are comprised of Diligent Design (graphic and web design), Outstanding Writer (writing tips and theory), and Freelance Pirate (freelancing and making money online.)

About Minus the Pie

Minus the Pie (media) was formed to unify my interests under one category. This means more targeted content for those of you that want great information on a more in depth scale. I’ve dispersed the content from Diligent Design’s other categories and combined them with some new posts and ideas into different areas:

Blog by Design: Currently undergoing some renovations, Blog by Design is a free video review service exclusively for bloggers to get a live demo of their site and learn about areas where they can improve and where they can stay on course.

Outstanding Writer: Outstanding Writer will provide you with great tips on writing from developing style and tone to shaping your writing with your personal experiences. As well you can also check out the website for “quick tips” on things like word usage and grammar.

Freelance Pirate: Freelance pirate is about that thing that people cannot stop talking about: making money online. Learn from my mistakes, triumphs, and overall theories as you make money honestly and learn what freelancing is all about.

Corey Freeman: Corey-Freeman.com is my personal blog and it’s all about the life of a young entrepreneur. This content will be less edited and probably less refined, but hopefully just as inspirational and informative on a “learn from life” kind of scale.

New Directions for Diligent

Diligent Design will now be 100% focused on design. That means no more business-like articles. However, it also means I’ll be doing more things like theme reviews (paid and premium), trying to get a hold of special offers, creating and informing you all about tutorials, and giving away free downloads! Here’s a list of some of the official new features:

  • Graphic Design Tutorials
  • Coding Tutorials
  • Template Reviews
  • Web Design Tutorials
  • Free Themes & Templates

Hopefully these changes will make you guys excited for the coming months. Let me know your feedback in the comments.

My Goals for Minus the Pie

I’d like Minus the Pie to be run fairly transparently, that is, I want you guys to know what my goals are and the measures I will take to achieve them. Here are some of my goals for MTP:

Build a Community: I’d love to build a nice following for each websites. That means I’d like at least a number in the three digit range for average daily pageviews, and I’d love it if I got at least 10 comments on every post I made. You can help me out by signing up for the free weekly Minus the Pie Newsletter.

Generating Income: Hosting costs money. I’m not saying each site will be flooded with sponsored content and advertisements. I personally hate blogs that put ads everywhere. However, each site will be monetized. This is to generate the capital needed to grow and sustain the network.

Build Authority: I run a freelance design business. So building up some skill and authority is very important to me. I hope to use these sites as a sandbox to help me build my skills.

Thoughts, Opinions, Values

So let me know your thoughts, opinions, values, comments on the subject. And have a great week!
